POSITION: NEWLY QUALIFIED SOLICITOR, LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAW

We are looking for an enthusiastic solicitor to join our successful Civil Litigation Department which deals with election law, local councillors, parliamentary conduct matters and other regulatory areas in the political world.

You will be working closely with a senior solicitor and will be trained in this niche area of law with a particular emphasis on local government.  The wide variety of work is always against a political background.

Personal Specifications

An ability to communicate clearly and demonstrate an understanding of the wider political picture.

The ability to manage a challenging portfolio of cases and to prioritise record keeping as necessary.

An ability to organise your own work load and work to strict deadlines.

Experience of advocacy and/or general litigation would be advantageous.

A keen interest and ability to research a wide variety of legal issues which arise on a daily basis whilst providing a telephone advisory service to all clients.

An interest in local and national politics will be a distinct advantage for the successful candidate.  

POSITION: PUBLIC LAW SOLICITOR 

We are looking for an experienced motivated solicitor with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) supervisor status in Public Law and/or Actions against Public Authorities to join our highly regarded Legal 500 rated Public Law Department. Experience of working in Inquest cases would be a distinct advantage. The role will involve handling and developing an interesting and varied case load.

 Requirements:

-        LAA supervisor status

-        an in-depth and applied knowledge of judicial review practice and procedure;

-        the ability to work with vulnerable people;

-        experience of working within legal aid contracts.   


POSITION: CHILDREN PANEL SOLICITOR – CHILDREN & FAMILY DEPARTMENT

We are looking for an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join our busy Children & Family Department.  

 You will be a Children Panel Member and should be able to demonstrate:-

 • Experience of running a heavy caseload in all aspects of children work, including care and adoption.  

•   Good advocacy skills.

• Ability to work with clients from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds including clients with learning difficulties and mental health problems.  

• Proficient IT skills.

• Experience in domestic DV and FMPO an advantage.


POSITION: PARALEGAL – COURT OF PROTECTION DEPARTMENT

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Court of Protection team with a possibility of experience in other areas of law. Our firm is ranked as a Top Tier firm with Chambers & Partners and is included in the Legal 500 rankings. The firm has been instructed in a number of leading cases in this field.


Our team is an established and thriving department.  The successful applicant will be a graduate with a good academic record who will assist a team of highly experienced solicitors doing complex and sensitive work. A good academic background is required and previous experience as a legal assistant or a paralegal would be an advantage.

Experience of using CCMS would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first class support to the team, including liaising with clients and counsel, drafting documents, general correspondence and administrative support and research and liaising with the Legal Aid Agency. What is essential is that you are highly motivated and professional, and are able to work independently so as to instil confidence among senior colleagues and other professionals.
