POSITION: CHILDREN PANEL SOLICITOR WITHIN FAMILY DEPARTMENT

We are looking for an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join our busy Children & Family Department.  

 You will be a Children Panel Member and should be able to demonstrate:-

 • Experience of running a heavy caseload in all aspects of children work, including care and adoption.  

•   Good advocacy skills.

• Ability to work with clients from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds including clients with learning difficulties and mental health problems.  

• Proficient IT skills.

• Experience in domestic DV and FMPO an advantage. 


POSITION: TRAINEE SOLICITOR TO SPECIALISE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAW

Steel & Shamash specialise in election law, local and parliamentary conduct matters as well as in various other regulatory areas in the “political world”. This includes acting for Councillors, Peers and MP’s in a wide variety of legal matters.

We are seeking a Trainee Solicitor with some general litigation and personal skills to become familiar with this highly complex and high profile area. You will be expected to have a reasonable grasp of the world of local/national politics and a knowledge of, or interest in, member conduct matters.

POSITION: COURT OF PROTECTION SOLICITOR

We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced solicitor to join our established and successful Mental Capacity Department.

We have a reputation for achieving excellent results for our clients.

The Department has current rankings in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 and receives instructions from family members, RPRs and the Official Solicitor. We have involvement in high profile cases and we are in the vanguard in this developing area of law. We are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality legal advice and representation.

The successful candidate will have;

-        at least 3 years’ PQE, although exceptional applicants with less experience will be considered;

-        experience of acting for both family members and the subjects of Court of Protection welfare proceedings;

-        an in-depth and applied knowledge of Mental Capacity law;

-        a proven ability to deliver practical results for clients within proceedings;

-        the ability to work with vulnerable people;

-        experience of working within legal aid contracts. 

 Candidates should also have reached the Legal Aid Agency’s supervisor status for Mental Health or Community Care law. Experience or an interest in Community Care is an advantage.
