Joshua Jaskiewicz


Josh is a paralegal in Civil Litigation department, working under the supervision of Senior Partner Gerald Shamash. Josh has gained litigation experience working for a City firm in complex matters including LIBOR manipulation and Investigations by the Serious Fraud Office and the Financial Conduct Authority.

At Steel & Shamash, Josh has expanded his practice under the supervision of Gerald Shamash on contentious election and media law matters including public inquiries, election petitions for the Labour Party, and defamation and libel actions in the High Court. Josh has developed a keen interest in election and media law working for the Labour Party and has considerably experience working on phone hacking litigation, misuse of private information, including acting on matters on breach of confidentiality; breach of privacy; costs litigation and enforcement of cost orders.

Josh also has specialist expertise in the field of intellectual property, in which he holds a Master’s degree. He has acted on a range of matters for start-ups and multinational businesses helping clients to identify, protect and develop IP rights. In doing so, he has helped businesses and individual clients gain a competitive edge by enabling them to commercialise and exploit their brands through brand strategy; trade mark registration and trade mark portfolio management; commercial use of image rights, design rights and enforcement of IP rights through copyright and trade mark litigation. He has acted on a range of both contentious and non-contentious issues involving negotiating commercial documents such as licensing, franchising agreements as well as contractual agreements to ensure the best possible outcomes for the client and their business.
